Merida retirement

There are various reasons why there has been an increase of people choosing to retire in Merida over the past several years. Pension goes much further on a month to month basis than living back in their home countries of USA, Canada and Europe. The climate and nature of Merida is a very attractive feature, and the large and growing foreign community has made the transition exciting from meeting new friends and very fun.

These are several reaons that we hear as common for retiring in Merida, but there also exists the investment opportunities in this Yucatan state. The economic and political stability over the past 12 years has made Mexico one of the few countries rated as positive in regards to being an emerging country with much potential for strong returns. The main sources for revenues of Mexico come from petroleum, money sent back to this country from expatriates living in other countries, and then Tourism. Tourism is projected to become Mexico´s number one revenue generator within 5 years, that is why so much money is being injected into the infrastructure.

Along with investing, retiring in Merida can be very enjoyable with a city so rich in culture and entertainment activities. Merida has many ecological and Mayan pyramid/ruin sites throughout the entire Yucatan peninsula. The oceanfront villages and cities are located within short drives on the Gulf of Mexico as well as the Mexican Caribbean side. The famous pink flamingos and cenotes are state famous and can be visited very easily. For the not so extreme and adventurous retired person, Merida has many concerts, plays, and art exhibits. Finally, movies and restaurants are found in several new malls that have been constructed over the past 3- 5 years.

Whether you are searching in Merida for retirement purposes, or to simply invest in real estate, there are plenty of opportunities given the proximity to the USA and the ease of travel to this city and their international airport.
